The Grain Emporium Represents Australia and Takes on “Bread in the City” at SIGEP Asia 2026
In July, The Grain Emporium team headed by Alex Moscon (Head Baker), Darren (baking assistant) and Ben (coach), had the incredible opportunity to represent Australia at Bread in the City – Asia Selection, held as part of SIGEP Asia 2026 at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore.
Held from 15–17 July 2026, SIGEP Asia is a major international trade event bringing together professionals from across the artisan foodservice industry, including bakery, pastry, gelato, chocolate and coffee.

One of the highlights of the event was Bread in the City, the Asia Selection for the Bakery World Championship. The competition brought together eight national teams representing Australia, Chinese Taipei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Singapore and the Republic of Korea, showcasing their skills across bread making, pizza and viennoiserie.
For The Grain Emporium, it was an incredible opportunity to compete alongside some of the best bakers in the region, putting our skills, creativity and craftsmanship to the test on an international stage.

Beyond the competition itself, the experience was an opportunity to learn, exchange ideas and connect with talented bakers and industry professionals from around the world. Seeing different techniques, approaches and ideas firsthand was both inspiring and a reminder of the skill and passion that goes into the craft of baking.

We returned home incredibly proud to have represented Australia and grateful for the experience, the people we met and everything we learned along the way.
Singapore, you were an experience we won’t soon forget!
